Lorena Sternwheeler & John & Annie Glenn Museum
This summer day trip includes a private tour and lunch aboard the historic Lorena Sternwheeler. This vessel offers a relaxed and pleasant ride through wide waters, passing scenic woodlands just the way our ancestors did. She has carried governors, Miss Americas, Pat Boone, and the Imperials. After our relaxing trip down the Muskingum River, we'll head to The John and Annie Glenn Museum in New Concord.
At this museum, which honors the first American to orbit the Earth, we'll learn about this astronaut/senator's boyhood home which has been moved back to Main Street in New Concord. It is beautifully restored as it was when he lived there until his enlistment in World War II.
John Glenn once said that he and his wife have lived one third of American history. The museum's goal is to bring to life aspects of that time, namely life during the Great Depression and on the Home Front during WWII.
Before heading home, we will make a stop for a sweet treat at the famous Tom's Ice Cream Bowl in Zanesville.
